Hey everyone…. an announcement… with peace and love…
I get a bunch of pms and texts about politics, especially since curbing down my presence on FB (yes, it’s been intentional, and one of the better decisions I’ve made recently). I am HAPPY to go back and forth with anyone about anything, embracing debate is FUN and IMPORTANT. That said….
PLEASE DO NOT open a conversation with a variation of the following…
“Regret not voting for Trump?!”
Seriously, stop asking me. The answer, by the way, in an emphatic “No.”
One can express zero “regret” on the vote, while still acknowledging numerous objections and criticisms of the current POTUS and his administration’s policies… I have several. How can anyone not?
This country is not in a good place right now. Biden does not look, frankly, well at times. His speeches are often incoherent and nonsensical, not unlike his predecessor. Inflation is out of control. BABY FORMULA is in short supply. Gas prices, which I always contend is how much of middle America views the “economy,” are insane. Further, I have SERIOUS reservations about the President’s embrace of the far left elements of his party, especially in light of Dobbs.
Specifically, the tacit acceptance, at least initially, of the SCOTUS “house” demonstrations, remains unacceptable to me. Yes, 1st amendment right to protest, I get it.. but it doesn’t mean it’s proper. If one of these events were to turn, say, a tad violent… how is that ANY different that 1/6? One could argue it’s even worse! The menacing aspect of all these “peaceful demonstrations” in private neighborhoods is deeply concerning. Even without violence, the intimidation is really the point here.
Funny thing is, I am virtually certain these tactics will backfire badly on Dems, who are already poised for a total whitewash in November. Be smarter people, and stop using Twitter as your barometer for public opinion.
Completely agree on the house protests. Everyone has the right to peacefully protest but never infringing on anyone’s personal property. Given the current state of the country and the world I don’t think all the blame lies with the POTUS. I must have missed something but not sure what “far left” perspectives he is embracing. Sounds like good dinner conversation with your FIL tonight! By the way don’t count out the Dems in November! Great article Ken!
