If it’s not obvious already, McCarthy is on setting 3 of that old Sunbeam toaster at this point. It’s not over yet for him, but I can’t see the MAGA wing backing down at this point, the chaos is the point here.
As we now head towards Round 3, what will be the move? Jordan is lurking, and certainly conniving enough to stage a backdoor steal from his old enemy Kevin. I just don’t see him getting the swing votes from the small, but formidable, moderate wing of the party.
Steve Scalise is now nominating Kevin McCarthy for round 3 on the floor. Watch out for him as the votes continue as a potential darkhorse compromise candidate. He’s relatively palatable, and has a strong, sympathetic background story which could benefit him as this thing drags on. In fact, like Jordan before him, he’s seemingly giving his own nomination speech at the moment.

We’ve been watching the fiasco today and personally I think after the 3rd time w/o enough votes he should graciously bow out. Sorry Kevin but a lot kids you invited to your birthday party said they can’t come. 😿🎉. As always your writing is excellent!
I’m enjoying watching this party implode on itself. The most telling statistic from last election is Dems winning the Gen Z vote in all 50 states, and they were actually a substantial enough portion to make a difference.
