Deflection in bad faith

I'm annoyed.

Inflation is REALLY bad…. check out today’s CPI number. - I get it.

Crime is up… it’s REALLY bad. - I get it

There is a radical left in this country, many of whom capitalized on (legitimate) anger re: George Floyd, and rioted in the summer of 2020, destroyed a ton of property and ruined lives... It’s REALLY bad. - I get it

The protests at SCOTUS homes… which inevitably let to the Kavanaugh incident this week…. it’s REALLY bad. - I get it

Many Biden administration policies, including, but not limited to, the poor messaging post-Dobbs leak, have not been good… I’m deep down a lifelong Reagan conservative. It’s REALLY bad. I get it.

With all this being said, and there are countless other ways the “left,” for lack of a better word, has contributed to this mess we’re now experiencing….

NONE of this is relevant ONE BIT when evaluating what happened on 1/6/2021.

Since I’ve cut back my more “public” political posting months ago, I’ll get these occasional texts from friends more defensive of the prior administration. Either it’s some variation on “Miss him yet?/Regret your vote?,” or this week - “forget 1/6, you need to focus on the problems now!”…

I’m sorry, but these type of arguments are absolute, total deflection, unserious statements made in bad faith. You think Jen Psaki is liable for the attempted murder of a Supreme Court justice? Fine… what does that have to do with Donald Trump’s liability for the events of 1/6? Frankly, if you can give me a serious defense of the former President’s actions, or that of any rioters that day, I’m all ears. Just please don’t OFFEND my sensibilities, and respect for reasoned logic, by airing grievances over current problems, or more notably the “media’s” coverage of it, to push the heinous acts committed on 1/6 under the rug.

I’m all up for a reasoned defense. Please feel free to comment or write me personally.
